Mindful MOVEment and Wellness

As a physical therapist, with additional training as a CHEK practitioner, reiki practitioner, and yoga teacher (RYT 500), I am passionate about physical activity, reducing sedentary time, and lifestyle changes, such as stress reduction/resilience building as healing modalities. Physical activity is so important, it is considered by some in healthcare as a vital sign (similar to heart rate, respiratory rate, etc).  In fact, physical activity can change communities and beyond; part of the vision statement of the American Physical Therapy Association is to improve society by improving people's movement!

 

Specifics that are unique to me (and fit my WILD perspective): I feel strongly about the acceptance of body diversity - my passion lies in getting an individual moving (similar to a specific and registered/trademarked term and movement in healthcare and fitness called Health At Every Size, see https://healthateverysizeblog.org/).  In working within hospital systems and outpatient settings, I have assisted individuals of many abilities and sizes on their fitness and wellbeing journeys.  Other specialties of mine are nature therapy, meditation, yoga, and reiki.

 

In late 2018 or early 2019, I will offer fitness and wellness services as a health coach, which includes education, consultation, and counseling on physical activity/therapeutic exercise, yoga, posture, movement quality, stress management/resilience, and sleep hygiene.  I am now available for workshops and health fairs in the community, as well as one-on-one fitness, wellness, stress management sessions utilizing exercise, soft tissue mobilization, yoga, meditation, reiki, and shamanic practices.
